Hand of NON-SPECIFIC Time Frame |
|
I’ve had a few discussions about the small gap connectors (cards that are missing one card between them like 2-4 or the all time favorite hand, 5-3) and why I feel they have so much EV in a cash game. Here is a perfect example of just that. The table had been playing all premium hands except foe myself and “iron1971” who had been chasing to the river with just about any draw you could think of. Hole cards: 4c 6h I’m in early/middle position, and decide to limp in with the understanding that if there’s any kind of raise, I’m done with the hand. “iron1971” calls as do both blinds and we go to the flop 4-handed. FLOP: 4s 4h 3d LOVE this! It checks past me and “iron1971” takes a $3 stab at a $2 pot. At this point I’m putting him on nothing more than K-Q or Q-J. Anything larger and he would’ve raised based on previous play. The blinds fold and I C-R him to $9 and expect the hand to be over unless he has some sort of draw. When he calls, I revalue his hand, and put him on some type of 3. He was on the button, and had been playing a lot of hands, so he must have a 3. Turn: 3c MONEY card. Now the only hand I have to worry about is pocket 3’s. Again, he had been raising with those hands pre-flop, so I know I’m good here. Time to let him do my work for me and I check it to him again. He bets out $8 into a $20 pot. This SCREAMS strength, so I show him some and shove my last $30.05 in. He snap calls and shows a 3h Qh. I fade the one outer and pick up a nice pot.
