Squirrel Facts (sort of)

Don was born in 1970 in Springfield , Ohio to parents Don and Martha Bostick.  Rumor has it that Mrs. Bostick went into labor while her husband was in the middle of a neighborhood tournament hand, which he refused to fold. Instead, he loudly instructed her to wait, saying that he was “about to cash, Martha! Hold on!”  The game was completed in the waiting room of the local Community Hospital Birthing Center .

Don was taught how to play poker by his Grandfather Donald Sr., Sr., and his Father, Donald Sr., at a young age.  Don grew up between South Vienna and Springfield , playing poker in the streets at the age of six for Tootsie Rolls, Gummy Worms, and rocks. He sometimes attended Northeastern High School , playing poker in the band room between and during classes, Saturday School and/ or detention.

Don did manage to graduate from a local tech college where he majored in Engineering. During this time he was married and had one daughter, now 12, who follows in her father’s footsteps, winning IPods and cell phones from her classmates during lunch.

His first experience at the WSOP was in 2000, where he didn’t cash, but gained valuable experience and a fairly lengthy arrest record. He has returned to the WSOP every year since under a pseudonym and has cashed in several satellite tournaments since then. When he’s not playing poker, he’s dealing it at local games, writing about it, reading about it, discussing it, teaching it or talking about it in his sleep. Don is now divorced.

His favorite poker players are Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Ted Forrest, Mike Sexton. He says his poker strategy is to remain adaptable, determining his style of play according to each game, and each table. His favorite game is Deuce-Seven Triple Draw.
